Veteran sharpshooter Chandro Tomar, aka ‘Shooter Dadi’ passed away on Friday. She had been admitted to a hospital in Meerut on April 26 after she had complained of difficulty in breathing. She had tested positive for COVID-19. Her family had tweeted in Hindi, "Dadi Chandro Tomar is corona positive and admitted to hospital due to breathing problems. May God protect everyone - family." After Chandro Tomar's demise, Saand Ki Aankh actresses Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar mourned her demise. On finding out about her demise, Kangana Ranaut also took to her Twitter to express grief. Chandro Tomar’s life inspired the Bollywood film Saand Ki Aankh, that released in 2019.
Kangana Ranaut wrote, “No please no......”, while reacting to a tweet about Chandro Tomar's demise. Taapsee Pannu shared a picture with Chandro Tomar and tweeted, “For the inspiration you will always be... You will live on forever in all the girls you gave hope to live. My cutest rockstar May the and peace be with you.” Bhumi Pednaekar took to her Twitter and wrote, “Devastated by the news of Chandro Dadi’s demise. Feels like a part of me is gone. She made her own rules & paved the path for many girl to find their dream. Her legacy will live on in them. Condolences to the family. Am lucky I got to know and be her #ChandroTomar #ShooterDadi .”

Chandro Tomar had learnt to shoot when she was in her 60s and she went on to win over 30 national championships. She is believed to have been the oldest female sharpshooter in the world. Chandra Tomar had participated in several competitions along with her sister Prakashi Tomar.
